Juxtaposition: This strategy combines two different or unrelated objects to create a new object.
For this strategy, I brought my eraser and a paintbrush together by overlaying the eraser and changing the opacity to blend it with the paintbrush for a new image. Bringing two opposites together.
Isolation: This strategy focuses the viewer on an element in a composition by separating it visually from its surroundings or other objects.
For this strategy, I isolated the object by placing it right in the middle of the colored pencils. The white space in between the objects makes it stand out and pop.
Metaphor/ Simile: This strategy is focused on the meaning of the image created with your object as it relates to something else.
For this strategy, I first thought of a candle that erases all odors. I combined the candle and eraser to create "The Odor Destroyer".
Change of Context or Environment: This strategy contrasts objects with unnatural or uncommon environments to highlight a concept or communicate an idea.
For this strategy, I wanted to communicate the idea that we need to "erase" the litter that fills our cities. Be the one who "walks" out and makes a difference. A change of environment to highlight the eraser on the sidewalk.
Physical/ Shape Similarity: This strategy uses physical similarities to showcase connections between objects that normally don’t connect.
For this strategy, I went personal and used a photo of me snowboarding. By using the similar shape of a snowboard and an eraser I aim to "erase" gravity.
Material Change, Swap, or Focus: This strategy swaps a material property that we are accustomed to with another.
For this strategy, I was inspired by the old Orbit gum commercial "Dirty Mouth Clean it up with Orbit".  I decided to swap the eraser with a pack of gum. To bring you the bad breath eraser.
